Oasis Summer Camp

"Oasis" Summer Camp functions for eight weeks. It is a place for refreshment for intercity youth who have nowhere else to spend their time in the summer. "Oasis" was founded to occupy children's summer days as a prevention to alternative actives that are not productive. Our capacity will range between 80-100 participants. Everyday breakfast, morning snacks, hot lunches and afternoon snack are served to all in attendance. Special tracts such as photography, organized sports, general recreation, crafts, music and positive messages take place every day. Our staff to camper ratio is one to four.

Every Tuesday throughout the summer there are swim trips to pools or the beach (depending on the weather conditions). On Thursdays, field trips will take the campers out of the city to special events at different locations (amusement parks, water parks, museums, science centers, aquariums, etc.). At the end of every day the camper will be provided a time to journal the positive features of their day. Over the years the journal has become a prized possession to many of the previous campers.

"Oasis" is a very costly program for YES to operate but the results in the changed lives of the children far outweigh the revenue it takes to generate. YES has always been more concerned with the results that can be made in an individual's life than the cost to function the many programs it represents.
