Get to Know an Intern - Anastasia

Introduce yourself!

Hello! My name is Anastasia and I am a Senior in the BASW program at Rutgers University.

What is your ideal career?

I would love to be high school social worker. Children in the school systems need someone to look out for them and to give them a voice.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love spending time with animals. I have a seeing eye puppy in training named Jesse and I also like to spend time with my pet dog, Archie, and guinea pig, Fiona.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Mashed potatoes!

What is the best piece of advice you can give to the kids at YES?

My best advice to them is a saying from Ayesha Siddiqi:

"Be the person you needed when you were younger."

If many of the kids would think of this and remind themselves of it, they may choose to change their behavior or actions as they go through life. I also found this extremely important in the social work field when working with others and thinking back to my youth and how I would have liked someone to approach me.
