Last year, the Youth Empowerment Club at Rutgers began a partnership with Roosevelt Elementary School, in which the club ran Community After School Tutoring (CAST) at Roosevelt, also known as Access to Education (A2E).
This year, we are proud to continue and expand on this partnership. A2E at Roosevelt operates during the school year from Monday through Thursday from 3:15 - 5:15pm. The tutors were originally comprised of students from the Rutgers Honors College but this year's programming has expanded to include volunteers from the entire university. A2E focuses on children in Grades 1 - 3 with about 25 participants from each grade. Tutoring consists of guiding the students with their homework, educational activities, phonics and reading comprehension and games directed at developing their educational habits.
We look forward to this upcoming year and the great academic results that will follow! Check out some of the photos of A2E in action.
